About Me

Born in Kursk, Russia, and educated in Moscow, I am an artist and theater designer. Now based in Connecticut, I bring a global perspective and a lifelong passion for storytelling to my creative and educational pursuits. With an MFA in Set and Costume Design from the Yale School of Drama and advanced studies at the Moscow Art Theater, I am deeply rooted in the traditions and innovations of theatrical design.

Artistic Journey

My artistic journey began at the Abramtsevo Art School, where I specialized in ceramics, laying the foundation for an exploratory approach to artmaking. Upon graduation, I enrolled at the Moscow Art Theater School where I studied in two programs: Technical Design and Set and Costume design. My theater designs have been showcased on stages around the world and my fine art and illustrations are exhibited and commissioned internationally.

Creative Practice

My creative practice spans a diverse range of projects, theater designs, watercolor paintings, murals, public art, monumental wooden sculptures, and intricate paper designs. Each piece becomes a "performance," telling a story and inviting viewers into a world of imagination. Whether designing theater productions, painting en plein air, or crafting public art installations, my work reflects a theatrical vision and a passion for storytelling.

"Theater is both my inspiration and the lens through which I view the world. My work, whether on stage or on canvas, is driven by a profound appreciation for the beauty of imagination and the power of storytelling. I describe my creative process as a means of transforming ordinary spaces into theatrical realms, where every element “performs” to evoke meaning and wonder."

Education & Mentorship

As an educator, I have spent over three decades inspiring students to find their creative voices. I’ve guided many into successful careers as independent artists, animators, and innovators in gaming, multimedia, and entertainment. My students' achievements reflect my commitment to cultivating artistic excellence and empowering the next generation of creators. I am proud of their accomplishments and am honored to continue my connection with decades of former students.
